About Musical Theatre Australia
Musical Theatre Australia (MTA) was founded in 2018 with the aim of contributing to the Australian musical theatre landscape through the creation of world-class Aussie musicals that celebrate diverse voices.
MTA is based in the Sunshine Coast hinterland in Queensland, Australia. It operates as a not-for-profit, with all income from productions going to support the creation of Aussie musicals.
The company welcomes tax-deductible donations through the Sunshine Coast Arts Foundation.
Co-Founders and Directors
Musical Theatre Australia was founded by Aleathea Monsour and Katy Forde. The couple are partners in life and love. Aleathea composes the music and is musical director. Katy writes the words and lyrics, and also directs.
Together they’ve written three musicals, with many more to come!

Our Aims
The aims of Musical Theatre Australia are to:
- Support and promote the creation, publication and production of Australian musical theatre locally, nationally and internationally;
- Embrace diverse Australian voices through stories, music and song;
- Support leaders of brave new ideas within the musical theatre space;
- Inspire, develop, support and produce Australian musical theatre that enriches the human experience;
- Seek assistance from supporters to enable the development and presentation of Australian musical theatre;
- Undertake any actions that will provide opportunities for the public to enjoy Australian musical theatre, dance, stories and song.
